Why Drainage Matters
Bad drainage kills lawns. It damages foundations. It creates swampy areas where nothing grows, and mosquitoes breed.
The fix requires understanding how water moves on your property. Then installing the right system to redirect it. Not a generic solution. A system designed for your specific property.
The Four Main Types of Drainage
- French Drains Underground pipes that collect water in saturated areas and redirect it. Works well for wet spots and areas with standing water.
- Channel Drains Surface drains that collect water on pavement before it pools, then redirect it. Good for driveways and patios where water collects.
- Catch Basins Catch surface water and direct it into an underground system. Acts like a mini-sewer for your yard.
- Dry Wells Underground basins that collect water and allow it to percolate into the ground slowly. Works when you don't have anywhere to redirect water to.
Most solutions combine multiple approaches.
